Another recipe from my girlfriend Steph. She had an insane amount of food at her house last Friday night, and this was another favorite. I whipped this up for her while she was working on something else- it literally took less than 5 minutes. So easy, so good, so sweet! Here’s what you’ll need:
1- 3/4 cups oats (quick or old-fashioned, uncooked)
1- 3/4 cups all-purpose flour, divided
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt (optional)
1-1/2 sticks of butter, melted
1- 12-oz pkg semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
1 cup caramel ice cream topping
Heat oven to 350* F. Grease bottom of 13×9-inch pan.
In large bowl combine oats, 1-1/2 cups flour, sugar, baking soda and salt. Stir in butter and mix well. Hold 1 cup of oat mixture to use later, pres remaining into bottom of pan.
Bake 12-15 minutes, until golden brown. Sprinkle with chips and nuts. Mix caramel topping with flour and drizzle over nuts and chips. Sprinkle that with remaining oat mixture. Bake for another 18-22 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool in pan on wire rack; refrigerate until form. Cut into bars. Enjoy!
